Happy Friday! In 1904, a New York newspaper called “The Independent” first published an article titled “Thank God It’s Friday.” (M. Bakhtiari, 2023)
In 1986, an All Foundation T.G.I.F. Party was held downtown at the top of Buchanan's Restaurant in the Haymarket. Noted as a chance to socialize, strengthen relationships, and no doubt have a lot of fun.
Two weeks ago, on Friday, November 8, NHRI alumni from all decades traveled back to Lincoln for NHRI’s 75th Anniversary Celebration. Alumni joined students, friends, spouses, and UNL leaders for an inspiring and incredibly fun weekend. We look forward to sharing more about our 75th Anniversary with you in the coming weeks. After all of the fun that was had two weeks ago, perhaps it is time to revitalize the T.G.I.F. Counselor Get-Together again?
Friday Fun Fact! The NHRI Board of Directors hold their meetings on Friday afternoons from 3:30-5 p.m. It is a great way to kick-off the weekend with a dedicated group of volunteers. Not many organizations can say they look forward to a meeting on a late Friday afternoon, but for NHRI leaders, it is something to look forward to.
Perhaps, it is true … we just have more fun on Fridays!
