Meet Megan & Sarah
Megan Hamsa Massey and Sarah Teten Kanter were in the Lakeview Project in the early 1980's. Megan and Sarah, look forward to sharing how their NHRI mentoring relationship has turned into a lasting frienship. Their relationship reflects NHRI's commitment to investing in others. Both Megan and Sarah embody this positive approach in their personal and professional lives, often finding ways to uplift and empower those around them.
Megan Hamsa Massey is the author of Dear Megan: Letters on Life, Love, and Fragile X, which shares her journey raising two sons with Fragile X syndrome. Megan's husband John Massey, also a NHRI alum, was a member of Teenage Project. Megan and her family reside in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Sarah Teten Kanter is on a mission to help people embrace the gift of growing older. She is founder and CEO of Positive Caregiving and author of Postive Caregiving: Caring for Older Loved Ones Using the Power of Positive Emotions. She holds a doctorate and master's degree in gerontology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Prior to pursuing her passion in gerontology, she was chief marketing officer and chief customer officer at Kenexa, now and IBM company.
Meet Bhagya & Gigi & Da'Naejah
Bhagya started as an NHRI mentee and, upon heading to college, was chosen to be a mentor herself. She mentored Da'Naejah until her graduation. Now, Gigi has taken on the role of Da'Naejah's mentor, with Da'Naejah currently being a part of the JP Central program.
Bhagya’s journey with NHRI spanned 8 years, starting as a mentee in 2015 and later becoming a mentor from 2019 to 2023. She was recognized as the Outstanding Mentee in 2019 and was awarded the Stuart Award in 2023. Bhagya graduated with degrees in Political Science and Mathematics in 2023, and she currently serves as the Head of Teaching & Product Development at OnToCollege with hopes of attending law school in the future.
Gigi is a current mentor in NHRI and a junior at UNL. She is studying Chemical Engineering on the Pre-Med track and is a member of Gamma Phi Beta, Dance Marathon Morale Director, Special Musicians And Bryan Health volunteer, Physiology Lab TA, and Instructor for Pure Movement Dance Institute. Gigi has been Da'Naejah's mentor for almost a year and her favorite memory with her is making power word bracelets at Pioneers Park (Da’Naejah couldn’t just pick one!).
Da'Naejah is a 6th grader at Park Middle School. She has been in NHRI for 5 years and recently attended NHRI's Preteen Leadership Institute in June 2024.

Curated Campus Tours
Led by our own current and alumni NSE leaders, alumni and friends of NHRI enjoyed a curated NHRI campus tour! Fun stops along the way include former program locations, historical and maybe a surprise or two along the way! At the end of the tour, alumni affiliated with a Greek fraternity or sorority will have an option to tour their chapter house.
