Current Projects
NHRI currently has 175 mentors and mentees in the program, resulting in 350 investment relationships. These mentors are split into seven projects based on the age and school of the leadership mentee. Below are more detailed descriptions of each project.
JP (Junior Project) North: Leadership mentees who attend Dawes, Goodrich, Park, Schoo middle schools, as well as parochial schools in Lincoln are part of this project.
JP (Junior Project) Central: Leadership mentees who attend Culler, Irving, Lefler, and Mickle middle schools are part of this project.
JP (Junior Project) South: Leadership mentees who attend Lux, Moore, Pound, and Scott middle schools are part of this project.
East Project: Mentees who were part of NHRI prior to high school and attend Lincoln East High School will join this project. We may also have East High School students who become new mentees in high school and are part of this project.
Leadership Development Project (LDP) at Lincoln High: Mentees who were part of NHRI prior to high school and attend Lincoln High School will join this project. We also recruit new mentees from Lincoln High each fall.
Leadership Development Project (LDP) at Southeast: This project began in 2013 with the help of Brent Toalson, then-Principal at Lincoln Southeast and parent of two leadership mentees. The size, scope, and selection process for LDP Southeast is identical to LDP Lincoln High; the only difference is that the mission of LDP Southeast is to “make a difference” at Lincoln Southeast High School. We also recruit new mentees from Southeast each fall.
Teenage Project: Students who are in the 9th- 12th grade but do not attend high school at East, Lincoln High, or Southeast are part of Teenage Project. This often includes students who were part of NHRI prior to high school and do not ultimately attend the three high schools where projects already exist.
